Our Mission Statement
Ministry Training & Development exist to help multiply the number of well-trained persons (be they ordained, lay, full-time, part-time and voluntary) who are lovingly dedicated to the creation and development of ministries be they parishes, congregations and fellowships by proclaiming the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
What is the Ministry of MT&D?
The Council and Staff of Ministry Training & Development seek to make a significant contribution to the achievement of the goals which are set out in our Diocesan Mission Statement.
We are particularly committed to strategies which will ‘multiply the number of well-trained persons’ in order to enable ‘parish churches to expand numerically, equip and nurture their members’ and, in the process, help to ‘reform the life of the Diocese’.
MT&D aims to partner with parishes and regions in the reformation and strengthening of ministry culture within the Diocese. Under the leadership of the Director and in conjunction with Moore Theological College, the staff are concerned with the whole process of gospel growth. Policies and strategies adopted will address needs at each of the following stages: Recruitment > Candidature > Entry into Ministry > In-Service Preparation > Leadership Preparation > Ministry Transitions.
MT&D aims to assist candidates & ministers to watch his/her life and doctrine closely developing a mature Christian life, a sound understanding of the gospel, and the exercising of sober judgement. The Diocese of Sydney desires able teachers and life-long learners, evangelists with a heart for the lost, loving and skillful pastors, encouragers and equippers of disciples, and servants able to mobilise Christians for mission.
